We are a third-generation, locally owned and operated excavating contractor, serving the area for more than seventy years.
Hollinger Excavating was started in the 1930s by R.S. Hollinger and his wife, Isabelle, under the name Hollinger Gravel and Sand near New Madison, Ohio. Dipping gravel from the pasture behind his home, R.S. or “Bill” as he was known to his friends, would deliver the gravel and sand in the back of his Ford Model T dump truck, which is still owned by the family to this day. Continued by his son Tom and wife Sharon as Tom Hollinger Excavating, more services were offered including backhoe and dozer work.
In the mid-1980s, Tom and Sharon’s son Doug was added to the workforce and the name changed to Tom Hollinger and Son Excavating. In 1996, the company incorporated, becoming Hollinger Excavating, Inc. Tom and Sharon retired in 2013 and the company is now owned by Doug and his wife Amy, making Doug the third generation to own and operate the local excavating company.
